Spotlight on… King Charles

You could be excused for thinking I was talking about a renaissance monarch. He rather looks like one. But I’m pretty certain none of the Kings of England have ever rocked it like this incredible emerging talent. In 2009, at the age of just 21, King Charles – born Charles Costa – won the International Songwriting Competition by unanimous vote. Now only 24, his career has already seen him touring in the UK and US with Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale and Mumford & Sons.
He released his debut album, LoveBlood on Universal Republic Records just under two months ago. The album is fun and fresh: the perfect remedy for summer blues. It’s easy to see why Noah and Mumford chose King Charles to support them on tour. There’s unquestionably a connection between their styles, but somehow King Charles takes it to the next level, fusing folk, rock, dance, classical and even metal elements in to his music, creating a much fuller sound. He’s also quite the showman and style icon!
I don’t want to labour the point. Just listen to the album, watch the videos, go see him live, and decide for yourself!
