Spotlight on… Lianne La Havas

There are few soul and R&B vocalists on the scene right now who excite me as much as Lianne La Havas. La Havas is as accomplished a musician and lyricist as she is vocalist, and I see very big things in this young lady’s future. At just 22, she’s already toured with Paloma Faith and Bon Iver, appeared on Later…with Jools Holland, and in December 2011 was nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll.
There is something in the smokey, delicate soulfulness of her voice, combined with the funk and rhythm of her music that recalls the likes of Lauren Hill. Fans of Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige will also fall in love with Lianne La Havas, and I’m absolutely delighted that La Havas’ debut album is being released in just a few hours. I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!

Currently on tour, La Havas is on my list of must-see artists for 2012. I’d recommend buying tickets before this little lovely goes stellar!
